FSRS-5 Spaced Repetition & Personal Learning Plans
How does Personal Academy help people remember what they learned?
Personal Academy is a learning platform that schedules daily review cards with FSRS-5, an open-source scheduler that sets each card's next review from how well the learner recalled it. Each card keeps a memory stability and a difficulty; the default target recall is 90%. Prerequisites do not lock courses. Choose it when practice should sit beside courses.
How the review schedule works
Forgetting is steep at first and then flattens, which is why a review spaced out over days does more than one long session. FSRS-5 is an open-source scheduler that fits each card's next review to that card's memory state.
- The learner rates each card with one of four ratings: again, hard, good or easy.
- Each card keeps a memory stability in days and a difficulty from 1 to 10.
- The target recall is 90% by default; an organisation can set it between 70% and 97%.
- The scheduler starts from the 19 published FSRS-5 parameters.

Around the review cards
What else keeps learning going after a course, with the code path for each.
Personal learning plans
A personal plan is generated on the server and shown to the learner as a path with its progress. Prerequisites are shown but do not lock courses.
Programmes
Each programme a learner is enrolled in, with its step timeline and completion state.
Microlearning campaigns
A page lists the active microlearning campaigns with their questions and answers; daily practice questions can also be posted to team channels (Slack, Microsoft Teams).
Training requests
Learners propose training they need and vote on each other’s requests; the list feeds the training-needs view for administrators.
Offline saves and notes
An installable web app that works offline: lessons are cached, and lesson completions and note saves made offline are kept and sent when the connection returns. Private Markdown notes on every lesson.
